Frequently asked questions about the nano-shower

The nano-shower is a compact shower solution for reducing limescale deposits and selected residues in the water.

It does not fundamentally change the minerals in the water, but reduces their tendency to deposit stubbornly on surfaces such as glass, fittings or shower walls. At the same time, the most common and known pollutants such as microplastics, PFAS and TFAS, chlorine, odorous substances, pesticides and hormones are filtered out of the water.

The result: less limescale build-up, easier cleaning and a noticeably more pleasant shower experience.

No. The nano-shower is not a softening system and does not remove calcium and magnesium from the water.

Minerals are deliberately retained. The focus is on reducing limescale build-up and minimizing hard deposits - but above all on filtering the most common pollutants.

The nano-shower is designed in such a way that the flow rate remains stable.

With correct installation and regular cartridge changes, no noticeable pressure loss is to be expected.

The durability of the cartridge depends on several factors, in particular:

  • Water consumption
  • Number of people in the household
  • Water quality
  • Chlorine content
  • Degree of hardness of the water

The higher the consumption and the more polluted the water, the faster the filter capacity is exhausted.

Recommended replacement intervals:

  • 1 person: maximum 6 months
  • 2 persons: approx. 3-4 months
  • Households with higher consumption: correspondingly earlier

Particularly in Germany and other EU countries with a higher chlorine content in tap water, it may make sense to replace the cartridge earlier, as the cartridge is subject to greater stress there.

Technical note:

A noticeable drop in pressure indicates that the cartridge has reached its maximum capacity and should be replaced.

The maximum filter capacity is up to 6000 liters - depending on the water quality.

Timely maintenance ensures that the full filter performance and optimum effect are maintained.

Why we deliberately recommend conservative replacement intervals

We deliberately calculate with realistic average values per person. In this way, we ensure that the filter performance remains consistently high and that you do not have to compromise on quality or protection.

What is the difference to cheap shower filters from the DIY store?

Many simple shower filters work with mineral filling materials or purely mechanical inserts with no proven effectiveness.

The nano-shower is based on a targeted filter and structure technology that is designed for defined reduction mechanisms. It is not a decorative attachment, but a technically developed solution for the sustainable improvement of water quality in the shower area.

No. The nano-shower does not artificially manipulate the pH value.

In contrast to ionizers or alkaline systems, the basic chemical structure of the water remains unchanged.

The nano-shower is a selective shower solution. It filters proven residues in the water and minimizes limescale build-up in the direct shower area through filtration.

The nano-soft home, on the other hand, is a centralized home system with integrated malic acid technology. This has a direct effect on limescale formation and prevents the build-up of hard limescale deposits in the entire pipe system.

While the nano-shower is primarily designed for filtration in the shower area, the nano-soft home eliminates the limescale problem systemically throughout the entire house - from the shower to fittings and household appliances.

In short:

nano-shower → local filtration in the shower area

nano-soft home → Central limescale elimination throughout the house

Yes, the nano-shower is installed directly between the fitting and the shower hose and can be removed at any time without leaving any residue.

No structural interventions are necessary.

The underlying technologies were tested under defined laboratory conditions. The decisive factor is not a short-term optical test, but the long-term reduction of limescale build-up under realistic conditions of use.

In general, it is important to understand: If a supplier says that it filters pesticides, for example, then this statement is theoretically true - depending on the pore size of the filter. With classic activated carbon filters, this is typically a maximum of 0.1 micrometers.

Pollutants with a particle size below this pore size cannot be physically retained. In practice, this means that not all dissolved substances are effectively removed. Many suppliers keep this general and do not publish any specific information on pore size. Insist on transparent proof.

Conventional activated carbon filters operate in the range of around 0.1 micrometers.

In independent laboratory tests by the international testing institute SGS, Dropvital has proven that nano-shower achieves an effective filter performance of up to 0.002 micrometers.

The decisive difference lies in the structure of the filter material. The design of the nano-shower ensures that retained substances are not released back into the water. With classic activated carbon filters, channels can form in the filter bed over the course of use, which reduces the filter performance.

nano-home is designed for a service life of up to 12 months and is therefore replaced annually.

Yes, the nano-shower filters over 99 % of short-chain PFAS & TFA from the water - proven in a Swiss laboratory.

No. The nano-shower is not a conventional activated carbon block filter, as is usually available on the market.

Classic activated carbon filters are produced by extrusion or compression molding. In this process, granulated or powdered activated carbon is pressed into a block with binding agents (e.g. synthetic resins or polymer adhesives). This construction method inevitably leads to a certain pressure loss, a limited inner surface area and an uneven pore structure.

The nano-shower works in a fundamentally different way.

Our carbon structure is built up in a wet spinning process on fibre-based carrier materials (e.g. rayon), then carbonized, activated and processed into a highly structured membrane. This process enables:

  • an extremely high specific internal surface area (m²/g)
  • a predominant formation of micropores ≤ 2 nanometers
  • a homogeneous pore distribution
  • Maximum adsorption density with minimum material usage

Conventional activated carbon filters, on the other hand, are predominantly based on meso- and macropores (10-50 nanometers and ≥ 50 nanometers respectively), which allow flow but have a significantly lower selective adsorption performance.

Sputtering technology - the decisive difference

Another technological difference lies in the sputtering technology used by Dropvital.

This involves the precise application of functional layers at the nanoscale in order to optimize the adsorption and binding properties in a targeted manner. This process originally comes from the high-tech industry and enables controlled surface modification at an atomic level.

The result:

  • Targeted pollutant binding
  • Stable adsorption structure
  • No material abrasion
  • No channel formation
  • No relevant pressure loss in the system

The nano-shower therefore works with high filtration efficiency and stable flow behavior at the same time.

The carbon structure used in the nano-shower is built up in a wet spinning process on fibre-based carrier materials such as rayon, then carbonized, activated and processed into a highly structured membrane.

This process enables us to achieve an extremely high internal surface area (m²/g) compared to conventional activated carbon filters. The cartridges are predominantly based on micropores with a diameter of ≤ 2 nanometers.

Conventional activated carbon filters, on the other hand, mainly work with mesopores and macropores (10-50 nanometers and ≥ 50 nanometers respectively), which are significantly larger.

In other words:

The nano-shower filters down to 0.002 micrometers, while conventional activated carbon filters are typically around 0.1 micrometers.
