Pollutant filter for the whole house

Pollutant filter for the whole house

The soft-home provides effective limescale protection for all household water. With the help of malic acid technology, limescale is stabilized so that it can no longer build up on pipes, fittings or household appliances. The minerals are retained in the water, while installations are protected and everyday maintenance is significantly reduced.

Basic filtration & hygiene barrier

Basic filtration is an integral part of every Dropvital system and ensures clean, hygienically safe water throughout the home. It specifically binds heavy metals from the tap water and the integrated hygiene barrier additionally increases hygienic safety for stable water conditions with a constant water flow suitable for everyday use.

Patented malic acid

The bio-based and tasteless malic acid is an integral part of the Dropvital limescale protection systems and provides highly effective protection against limescale throughout the home. It binds limescale-forming components in such a way that even when heated up to 100 °C, no unwanted limescale residues are formed without removing the minerals from the water.

The malic acid used is proven to be harmless to health and the limescale protection is carried out without salt, electricity or waste water and ensures permanently protected installations with consistent, natural water quality.

The process explained in 4 steps:

Limescale formation without treatment

Water contains various oxides and ions of minerals in unbound form. Pressure, heating or stagnation cause these substances to bind, resulting in stubborn limescale.

Inflow into the soft-home cartridge

The stubborn limescale bonds flow into the soft-home system, where the granular malic acid is located, which then dissolves in the water.

Decoupling and dissolution of limescale

Thanks to the malic acid, the limescale is dissolved and the malic acid forms a protective layer around the individual minerals. Unlike with swirlers or magnets, there is no limescale left in the water after treatment.

Long-lasting limescale protection

The binding of malic acid is constant and despite pressure in the pipe, heating in the boiler and stagnation, the minerals can no longer bind to each other, which solves the limescale problem.

Frequently asked questions

For hygienic reasons, we recommend changing the filter after 12 months at the latest.

The actual maintenance interval may vary depending on the size of the house, water hardness, water consumption, pipe network and usage profile. On this basis, we will inform you individually of the optimum replacement time.

The soft-home guarantees a term of 12 months, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

The replacement filter for the soft-home costs EUR 399.

On request, maintenance can be carried out by one of our service installers. The service call costs an additional EUR 200.

In contrast to salt-based water softeners, where the warranty often only remains valid if the manufacturer carries out regular servicing, the Dropvital warranty remains valid regardless of servicing.

The soft-home comes with a 20-year manufacturer's warranty.

You can easily carry out maintenance yourself. For each cartridge, you will receive a QR code with the maintenance instructions in the desired language and a clear step-by-step video.

In the soft-home cartridge, calcium and magnesium ions in the water bind to malic acid. This creates stable organic complexes, in particular calcium malate and magnesium malate. This complexation fundamentally changes the chemical state of the minerals.

By binding to malic acid, the minerals are no longer present as freely available calcium carbonate. As a result, they can no longer crystallize into classic lime (CaCO₃) and accumulate on pipes, fittings or surfaces.

The minerals remain in the water, but are chemically bound.

Under normal operating and household conditions, these organically bound minerals are not released from the bond, meaning that new limescale is no longer formed. This also applies when the water is heated, as the calcium ions are no longer present in the free form required for limescale formation.

The decisive difference to physical conversion systems is that the lime is not merely changed in its crystal form, but is chemically bound. The soft-home therefore does not work via seed crystals, magnetization or turbulence, but via a targeted organic complexation of the lime-forming ions.

Important:

The minerals are not removed, but permanently bound. The water composition is retained, while limescale deposits are reliably prevented.

Classic salt-based water softeners, on the other hand, work via ion exchange. Calcium and magnesium ions are completely removed from the water and replaced by sodium ions, regardless of their function. This means that it is not technically possible to selectively differentiate between lime-forming ions and mineral components in salt systems.

In contrast to classic salt-based water softeners, in which calcium and magnesium ions are replaced by sodium ions, the soft-home works without ion exchange and without salt. The natural minerals remain completely contained in the water.

Instead, calcium and magnesium ions are organically complexed by malic acid. This creates stable mineral-malate complexes, in particular calcium malate and magnesium malate. These organically bound minerals are up to 100 times more water-soluble than classic calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) and are therefore no longer available for the formation of limescale deposits.

This complexation means that the minerals remain dissolved in the water, but can no longer settle as hard limescale on pipes, fittings or appliances. The practical result is that the water behaves like soft water, although the mineral composition is retained.

Even when heated, for example in hot water mode or during boiling, the minerals remain predominantly in the organically bound form. This effectively prevents the reaction with carbonate ions necessary for limescale formation.

Classification of the measured values

Conventional test strips or simple hardness measurements continue to show the original water hardness, as they only measure the total amount of dissolved mineral ions. They do not differentiate between freely available hardness constituents and organically complexed minerals. Accordingly, the TDS value (Total Dissolved Solids) remains unchanged.

The decisive factor is not the measured value from cheap test strips that are only designed to react to mineral ions, but the chemical behavior of the minerals in the water:

  • The minerals are bound, highly water-soluble and lime-inactive - limescale deposits are prevented without removing minerals or adding sodium.
  • Magnesium malate and calcium malate are formed by binding to the malic acid of the minerals.
  • No magnesium citrate, no magnesium sulphate and no magnesium oxide.

It's worth googling for yourself😉

No. The soft-home does not change the pH value of the water.

The water treatment takes place without ion exchange and without chemical pH shifting. The natural pH value of the source water remains unchanged.
